~~Great looking 8x10 color glossy photo autographed by former St. Louis Cardinals guard and former Wyoming football player...Conrad Dobler.

Conrad, who played his college football at Wyoming, played in the NFL for the St. Louis Cardinals 1972-77, New Orleans Saints 1978-79 and Buffalo Bills 1980-81.  Conrad, who became known as "The NFL's Dirtiest Player", played in 129 career games, returned a fumble for a TD and was named to three consecutive Pro Bowl teams 1976-78.  Conrad originally signed this photo on Saturday February 16, 2002.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia...

Conrad Francis Dobler (born October 1, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois) is a retired American football offensive lineman in the NFL.

Dobler was drafted out of the University of Wyoming in the 1972 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals, and quickly developed a reputation as a tough customer. "I see defensive linemen jump to knock a pass down. When that happened near me, I'd smack 'em in the solar plexus, and that got their hands down real quick."[1] After six years in St. Louis and three consecutive Pro Bowl appearances (1975-77), he made the cover of Sports Illustrated, who heralded Dobler as "Pro Football's Dirtiest Player".[2]

In 1978, however, Dobler suddenly became a Saint: the Cardinals traded him to New Orleans, where he played two years. He then played two final seasons with the Buffalo Bills, retiring after the 1981 campaign. Dobler, known for such transgressions as punching Mean Joe Greene, spitting on a downed and injured opponent (the Eagles' Bill Bradley) and kicking Merlin Olsen in the head,[1] parodied his image in a Miller Lite beer commercial by getting a section of fans to argue the eternal question, "Tastes Great! Less Filling!" (Olsen got a measure of revenge by placing Dobler's name on a headstone in a scene from Olsen's TV series Father Murphy).

After football

Dobler paid a high price for his NFL career; today he is 90% disabled having suffered through numerous operations to repair his battered body. Still in need of further surgeries, Dobler, like many other disabled NFL veterans, has been unable to gain disability assistance from the NFL. [1]

On April 5, 2007, The Buffalo News reported that as a result of falling out of a hammock in 2001 Dobler's wife Joy became a quadraplegic. Substantial medical bills for Joy's care have put the Dobler family in financial hardship, to the point they could no longer pay for their academically gifted daughter, Holli or their son Stephen, to attend college. After champion golfer Phil Mickelson heard of the Dobler family situation on ESPN, Mickelson volunteered to pay for Holli's college education at Miami University in Ohio and the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Stephen is a member of Kappa Sigma there.
