Larry began his career in 1977 with the New York Yankees.  He played with the Yankees 1977-78 and Texas Rangers 1979.  Larry played in 10 career games and recorded a 2-2 career won/loss record with 10 K's and a 5.04 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched.  Larry played in 2 games for the eventual 1977 World Champion New York Yankees  as well as 5 games for the eventual 1978 World Champion New York Yankees.  Larry signed the sweet spot of this OML Allan H. Selig baseball with a blue ballpoint pen and he also inscribed underneath his name, "N. Y Yankees 1977-78", to note his affiliation with the great team.  Larry signed this OML baseball on Saturday January 18, 2014.

Larry Stephen McCall (born September 8, 1952) was born in Asheville, North Carolina. He is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He played Major League Baseball with the New York Yankees (1977–1978) and the Texas Rangers (1979) professional baseball teams during his career. He bats left-handed and throws right-handed.

Larry McCall was signed by the Baltimore Orioles on February 27, 1971 as an amateur free agent. On September 16, 1974, he was purchased by the California Angels from the Baltimore Orioles.[1][2] On October 25, 1974, he was returned to the Orioles by the Angels.[1][2] On April 10, 1976, he was released by the Baltimore Orioles, and on the same day, he was signed with the New York Yankees as a free agent.[1][2]

McCall made his major league baseball debut on September 10, 1977 with the New York Yankees. On that day of his major league debut, the Toronto Blue Jays were playing against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium with 20,296 people attending the game.[3] At the top of the seventh inning, McCall was called to replace Stan Thomas pitching.[3] He pitched one inning that game. At the top of the eight inning, he was replaced by Ken Holtzman pitching.[3] At the end of the game, the New York Yankees lost the game against the Toronto Blue Jays with the score at 19–4.[3] On November 10, 1978, McCall was traded by the New York Yankees with Mike Heath, Sparky Lyle, Dave Rajsich, Domingo Ramos, and cash to the Texas Rangers for Dave Righetti, Juan Beníquez, Mike Griffin, Paul Mirabella, and minor leaguer Greg Jemison.[1][2] He played his final Major League Baseball game on September 27, 1979. On January 4, 1980, McCall was traded by the Texas Rangers with Mike Bucci (minors) and Gary Gray to the Cleveland Indians for David Clyde and Jim Norris.[1][2]

Baseball coach

Larry McCall began his coaching career in professional baseball in 1990 as a pitching coach with Bluefield.[4] After, he coached for two seasons at Class-A Kane County.[4] He went to Frederick for the 1993 season and spent three seasons there before going to High Desert in 1996.[4] McCall was also the pitching coach at Double-A Bowie in 1997 after a season at Class A High Desert.[4] He also served as the pitching coach for the Perth Heat in the off season in Australia.[4] He served as the pitching coach at Gulf Coast in 2002 after spending the previous four years at Rochester and Delmarva in 2003.[4] In 2005, McCall was named the winner of the Cal Ripken Sr. Player Development Award.[4] McCall was the bullpen coach for Baltimore during the second half of the 2006 season.[4] His 21 years as a coach in the organization came to an end on September 24, 2010 when the Orioles declined to retain him.[5]
